Farquhar
The 1911 French-style Santa Monica residence of noted architect R.D. Farquhar, originally sited at San Vicente Boulevard, moved in 1952 to Georgina Avenue just off of Ocean Avenue. After a masterful, award-winning renovation and expansion by architect Paul Brant Williger and interior designer Peter Dunham, we created an American Colonial Revival garden that would have been at home in this beach resort in 1911, with a large swimming pool, outdoor fireplace, pergolas, date palms to match the street trees, two new lemon trees to join the two ancient ones nursed back to health, a parterre garden with shrub and climbing roses and hydrangeas, a kitchen garden, and flowering meadows. A figurative metal sculpture by artist Victor Hugo Zayas faces a fountain on the main axis.
