Lambeth
Turning an early 1930s Spanish house in Los Feliz that was exposed to the street into a private oasis. A walled courtyard with a fountain replaced the sloping front yard, giving privacy from the driveway and the street. A structurally-rotting rear garage was rebuilt as an open dining pavilion, with skylights and custom-fabricated steel doors opening to a garden of cypress, lavender, thyme, and irises where previously there had only been lawn. An original masonry fireplace was uncovered and paired with a concrete bench and bluestone patio.
