My own 1920s bungalow in Echo Park, with a whimsical garden inspired by the different currents of the California garden in that era: part Victorian California with citrus, palms, and roses, part Mediterranean Exotica with aloes and agaves, part Native California with sages, buckwheats, and oaks, and part hobby urban homestead, with chickens, raised beds, and lots of cats. It’s always evolving, and I’m always learning from it.
